Public Programs Intern
The Scott County Historical Society (SCHS) in Shakopee, MN is seeking interns for summer 2017. This internship position runs for approximately 3 months (June – August); SCHS requires that interns commit to at least 10 hours per week.
The Public Programs intern will be responsible for the following:
-Delivering various SCHS public programs. This may include any of the following: assisting with children’s craft workshops; staffing the SCHS booth at festivals and fairs; assisting with exhibit openings and other events; leading tours; and more.
-Preparing program materials and spaces, distributing surveys to program participants, and helping SCHS plan and promote upcoming programs.
-Assisting with other areas of museum work. This may include any of the following: exhibition development; PR & marketing; customer service; etc.
Qualifications or requirements
-Must be a college undergraduate with some background or demonstrated interest in history or museum work.
-Must have experience interacting with the public and be comfortable working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
-Must be a confident public speaker and have strong written communication skills.
-Must be enthusiastic, creative, and a proactive worker.
-Must have own transportation and must be able to intern during designated program times.
