The compounding crises of the last several years have revealed that there is little to no safety net for most individual artists, culture bearers and creative workers, creating a pressing emergency of equity in economic opportunity and representation, especially for artists from communities that have been under resourced and often had culture extracted from them for someone else's economic benefit. Just as the crisis has revealed how fragile the livelihoods of artists are, it has revealed that our economic systems are upside down in how they value labor across all sectors. To address these barriers and inequities, many local organizations are finding solidarity with other economic justice movements and ideas. Join us to hear from three organizations on the leading edge of community wealth building, creative workforce development, and entrepreneurship.
