Creative Change Coalition, Technical Assistance Workshop: Building an Artist Emergency Relief Fund

What are the disasters you worry about for your communities? We’re all facing hardships, but some are unexpected and devastating, at the individual and community level. An Emergency Relief Fund for Artists provides short-term, immediate relief to those who are facing lost income or unexpected expenses due to a personal or community emergency. This might include illness or injury, natural disasters, pandemics, or other catastrophic events that disrupt an artist’s ability to work. An ERF, either in response to a crisis or an ongoing program, works because sometimes a small amount of money at just the right time can be the bridge that helps an artist keep their career on track.

Join Springboard for the Arts and guest presenters to explore the considerations, structures, and relationships that organizations can set in place today in order to be prepared to activate an Emergency Relief Fund. Building from lessons learned from their low barrier COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, Springboard will provide an introduction and overview of their newly updated free toolkit Invest in Artists: Launch an Emergency Relief Fund. 

Participants will leave the session with an overview of Springboard’s newly published Emergency Relief Fund toolkit as well as an action plan to take proactive steps to be ready to mobilize a fund when the time comes.
