Employment Rights for Artists
Wrongful termination lawyers Ben Kwan and Ted Haller from Haller Kwan LLP will provide a seminar on employment rights for artists, including examples often-complained about workplace conduct that is absolutely atrocious but 100% legal—and help you understand what kind of conduct actually crosses the line into the bounds of illegality. Attendees will be able to download a free resource to help them navigate various employment situations that Ben and Ted hope you never encounter—but want you to be prepared for in case you do.
Bio: Ben Kwan and Ted Haller opened Haller Kwan LLP in July 2017 to help individuals with wrongful termination cases. Their specialty is using their journalism backgrounds (Ted is a legal contributor at FOX 9) to craft narratives that motivate efficient and valuable results for their clients—whether through compromise or through the civil litigation process. One of their favorite parts of counseling clients is helping them understand compromise as a function of risk and opportunity applied to an analysis of the damages and remedies that the law provides. When the other side isn’t capable of such compromise, Ben and Ted litigate zealously.
Ben and Ted are both graduates of the University of St. Thomas School of Law ('13 and '14, respectively). They met almost 17 years ago as seniors at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, where they both graduated in 2005—they even worked together for four years at the same CBS affiliate in Michigan in their prior lives as TV reporters. Oh and, surprise-surprise, today they're married to one another.
