Help us welcome Springboard's new Hinge Resident Artist, Leila Awadallah, on a virtual Zoom meeting Thursday, December 3rd, from 4 - 5pm!
Springboard's Hinge Artist Meet and Greets are free and open to anyone who is interested in meeting the artists in our program!
Join us virtually to hear more about Leila's art practice and what she will be working on during her online residency, share your ideas and things you want Leila to know about the Fergus Falls community, and enjoy conversation with other community members and artists in an informal and welcoming setting through Zoom. Bring your favorite drink or snack while we connect!
About the Artist:
Leila Awadallah; LeilAwa لیلع َ (she/her) is a Palestinian American artist; a choreographer, teacher and cultural activist, born and based on occupied Dakota land. She works with embodied research and storytelling through dance performances composed within a human rights and social justice focus. Her artistic practice begins with ‘body watani’ - centering the body as a sacred living archive of genetic / cellular memories of histories, lands, and roots - a pathway towards healing and connectivity. Her research explores embodied Palestinian memories, Arab American experiences, US + Middle East Foreign Policy, settler colonial occupation of indigenous lands, and contemporary investigations of traditional Arabic dance. LeilAwa's artistry activates primarily in the Twin Cities and Beirut | Sour, Lebanon. She performed with Ananya Dance Theatre for 5 seasons, is a co-creator of Kelvin Wailey, and has presented work in platforms including Rhythmically Speaking, Threads: Tapestries, Goodnight at the Southern, Dear Gaza, MN Presents, and the Tiro Association (Sour). Her work in film received a SAGE Award, and she developed the DDBR Residency bringing international artists to Palestine. Salaam.
Leila Awadallah will be participating with Hinge Arts through an online residency from Monday, November 30th until Saturday, December 19th, 2020 for the Career Development Program. You must register for this online meet and greet to receive the Zoom meeting invite and link!
