Career Development Residency

3-5 artists will be selected for Career Development residencies in this application period. Career Development residencies are designed to provide time and space for artists to break from their daily routines and focus on their own individual projects in a supportive community.

Details:

  • Residencies can last 2 - 8 weeks
  • Artists traveling from out of state are eligible for up to $250 in travel support
  • Free lodging, plus studio space at a partner location
  • Apartment is fully furnished, with Wi-Fi access and a landline telephone
  • Bicycle, lock and lights available
  • Assistance providing outreach workshops in the community, if desired
  • Up to two hours of free career counseling with Springboard staff
  • Professional headshot
  • Free tuition to Springboard workshops
  • Access to the Library of Public Perks
  • No project support funding or living stipend

Alumni Residency

1 alumni who has participated in Hinge Arts in previous years will be selected in this application period.

Homecoming Residency

1-2 artists, who spent all or a portion of their youth in the 9-county region of West Central Minnesota (counties of: Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin), AND who now live in places outside of this region, will be selected for project-based residencies in this application period. Artists must propose an actionable idea and desire to collaborate with or engage with their home region through their artistic practice. We are particularly interested in project ideas in the topics of youth engagement, equity/inclusion, and/or environmental issues.

Details:

  • Residencies can last 4 – 12 weeks
  • Living stipend of $100/week
  • Up to $1,500 available in project support for engagement or creative placemaking projects
  • Artists traveling from out of state are eligible for up to $250 in travel support
  • Free lodging, plus studio space at a partner location
  • Apartment is fully furnished, with Wi-Fi access and a landline telephone
  • Bicycle, lock and lights available
  • Up to two hours of free career counseling with Springboard staff
