The Rochester Art Center is excited to welcome an Advancement Associate to our small, thoughtful, but mighty team!
The Advancement Associate is the first person patrons meet when they enter the Art Center or call for information. The ideal candidate for this position is energetic, warm and organized. They will also have a keen eye for marketable art and products, be a savvy salesperson, desire to understand the market and adapt the Gallery Shop to meet clientele interests.
This role supports the Advancement Coordinator to further awareness of the organization’s mission, programs and achievements. It requires high level organizational skills, diplomacy, confidentiality and passion for the arts.
Primary Responsibilities Include
Coordinate Art Consignments for the Art Center Gallery Shop
Invite artists to consign at the Art Center, prepare Consignment Agreements, meet the artists to in-take artwork at the Art Center, maintain records and follow up with artists regularly to change inventory.
Complete regular inventory checks of the Gallery Shop.
Use Square to process sales and track merchandise.
Support Advancement Coordinator by updating records in the donor database (Bloomerang).
Assist Advancement Coordinator with annual campaign mailings and acknowledgement letters, and event planning, preparations and registration.
Provide content for the e-newsletter and social media posts
Support design for non-curatorial materials: billboard, light boxes, etc.
Secure building to ensure proper building security at all times. Lock, secure and code out building at end of shift.
Follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
Assist with set-up and strike for special events and rental functions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications or requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required plus three to five years of related experience in customer service and retail.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, excels in collaboration and team-based work.
Strong communication skills – verbal and written; excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Ability to maintain accurate records; read, analyze and interpret standard business documents; write reports, business correspondence, and procedural guides; effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers and the general public.
Understanding of public relations and marketing
Excellent organization and project management skills
Self-driven and able to set and execute priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Photography and graphic design training or experience a plus
Experience using social media preferred
Basic understanding of audio/video equipment, with the ability to learn new skills in regards to operating audio/visual equipment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements of the Position
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, sit, move about, hear and speak. Required to stand, be on feet, and move around for a full work shift.
Ability to communicate in person, by radio, electronically and over the phone. Ability to use computer equipment to complete reports, generate service orders, maintain inventories, etc.
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
