Art Focused Employment Specialist
City: Saint Paul, MN
Salary: $16.50 – $19.00/hour

Provide person-centered services & supports related to employment services to assist each person in reaching their highest degree of independence possible. Work with all parties to achieve a successful employment outcome that is well matched to the person’s interests, preferences, and abilities. Work with employers and provide suggestions to reduce barriers to employment for person served.
Support persons served in making informed choices for competitive integrated employment that are aligned with the person’s long-range goals and available jobs in the competitive labor market.
Work in cooperation with support team members to develop, document, and implement the progress of employment plans for persons served that are aligned with the person’s interests, preferences, and abilities. Maintain documentation that meets requirements (245D, EE, VRS).
Provide training, assistance, service, and materials necessary to a successful job search, including, but not limited to: employer contacts, resume writing, job seeking skills, interviewing skills, application completion, orientation, on-boarding, and understanding of policies and procedures.
Provide on-the-job training to ensure the person achieves stabilization in employment by meeting the employer’s expectations.
Work with adults of all ages and with youth ages 14-21 to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services.
Partner with schools and school staff to establish effective working relationships.
Meet with persons served using various methods including in-person meetings, phone calls, and virtual meetings.
Work with referral agents to solicit referrals based on MSS eligibility criteria.
This position will be split as approximately 50% Art Focused Employment Services and 50% General Employment Services.
Hours & Benefits: This is a full time position with some flexibility in schedule based on the needs of the persons served. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Qualifications or requirements
Must have experience teaching or leading groups
Must be able to develop or augment curriculum
Self-starter who will research opportunities for employment in the arts
Preference given to candidates with two years of experience in applied fine arts, performing arts, digital art or other creative fields.
Must meet the qualifications of a Designated Coordinator under 245D
You must also have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and be insurable under the standards set by our insurance company and be able to provide your own transportation. Candidates must pass a drug screen and criminal background screening as determined by DHS and MSS. Must be able to frequently stand, bend, stoop and reach and push manual wheelchairs used by adults.
