Job description

The Art Center Instructor leads a variety of youth and/or adult courses and workshops at the Eden Prairie Art Center and possible off-site locations based on experience and area(s) of expertise. In addition, individuals hired for this position may substitute for art classes in a variety of other formats and work at city events providing demonstrations or hands-on activities for youth and adults. While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Qualifications or requirements

Position Requirements

Education: B.S., B.A., or B.F.A. degree in art, art history, education/teaching or related subject required. Consideration also given to those who are currently enrolled in one of the degree-seeking programs listed above and have extensive youth/teaching experience. CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.

Work Experience: 1-year experience teaching art classes in a school or art center setting required, 3-5 years preferred.

Specialized Training: Able to create lesson plans independently for specific area of application required. Some equipment training may be provided.
