ART365 Coordinator is a combination of Northeast Minneapolis Arts District project coordination and assisting the Northeaster newspaper publisher, who volunteers a lot of her time and resources to various arts efforts. Person hired will be paid by and accountable to the Northeaster.
Arts District project consists of working with artists to commit to the ART365 initiative, scheduling their dates, collecting their images and descriptions. Promote the program to potential visitor groups. Load in social media and web postings, place signage and make good-will visits to the artists on their open days (a shared responsibility). Make presentations to community groups and other affinity groups to inspire requests for tours and demonstrations. The ART365 initiative features one working artist studio open each day of the year, a different studio each day.
The newspaper part of the position consists of visiting new businesses to write short articles about their businesses, paving the way for them to purchase advertising. Sell advertising and rough sketch or use your graphic programs to design advertising appropriate to the client. As skill and comfort level increase, this person would be responsible for various ways of canvassing and serving past or repeat clients. The Northeaster is a well-respected every-home-distributed newspaper read by 77% of its recipients.
Potential to grow into general assistance and project management of other arts activities as they develop. Offers informal access to many mentors and peers.
Qualifications or requirements
Requires polite tenaciousness and follow-through, good written, verbal and social media communication skills, and experience in any of the following: retail, food service, customer service, teaching or other applicable fields. Preference given to artists or arts administrators currently connected with the Northeast Minneapolis arts scene and living within easy driving distance. Work from home or in the field, using your own computer/phone. Contract position based on hours reported, average 10 hours a week, $17/hr. with potential to grow.
