Job description

The Box Office Manager is responsible for creating a positive first point of contact for audiences and delivering excellent customer service. This position manages all daily functions of the Box Office including financial, operational and staffing procedures and is responsible for the day-to-day management of ticket sales transactions, record-keeping, and supervision of box office staff for all events occurring in Fine Arts venues at both the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. The box office manager serves the CSB/SJU Fine Arts Series, music and theater departments and other campus events to support successfully ticketed events. This position works flexible hours/days, including evenings and weekends.

As a nationally recognized university presenting department, Fine Arts Programming presents 20+ touring performances, 6 exhibitions and supports 250+ academic and community activities annually across two campuses, in five theaters and two galleries. On average, 100+ events are ticketed each year. As a result of the vibrant arts programming found at CSB/SJU, the central Minnesota region has access to professional internationally respected artists in music, dance and theater.

Qualifications or requirements

Education: College degree or demonstrated experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

–A flexible schedule is a must. Hours will often be irregular and include evening and weekend work
–Experience, ability, and commitment to the role of the box office in creating an inclusive and welcoming community in terms of race, gender-identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class and immigrant status
–Demonstrated experience with a computerized ticketing system, preferably with a performing arts background. While not required, experience with Choice is a plus
–Positive, proactive and flexible leadership style; enthusiastic team player dedicated to collaboration across the team
–Exceptional customer service skills with a proven ability to remain calm in demanding situations
–Demonstrated experience leading, training and motivating staff
–Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
–Commitment to the learning environment fostered within a higher ed community
–Knowledge of general accounting principles and credit card compliance
–Demonstrated ability to utilize data management systems beneficial
–Knowledge of ADA regulations and standards beneficial
–Demonstrated understanding of the integrated audience experience between box office and front of house
