Job description

Overview
Macalester College seeks to hire a part-time Concert Supervisor. This position is responsible for managing performances and events for the Music Department.

The person who fills this postion will be required to work an average of 26 hours per week during the academic year (September – May) and must be available to work weekends. Some weekday hours (flexible) and occasional weeknights are also required.

Responsibilities
Manage all logistical arrangements leading up to events and performances which take place in the Mairs Concert Hall and other spaces in the Music Department
Manage student staff during events in Mairs Concert Hall
Ensure that events and performances in Mairs Concert Hall are properly staffed
Provide training for student employees in Mairs Concert Hall
Manage publicity, marketing and audience-building for events in Mairs Concert Hall
Manage the maintenance of all Mairs Concert Hall equipment
Manage the score library
Provide support for Music Department Coordinator and ensemble directors as needed
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications or requirements

High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
Previous experience working in a concert hall or with special events highly desired
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to work independently and perform job duties with minimal supervision
Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines
Familiarity with sound, lighting and video systems, photography and website maintenance a plus
Familiarity with concert protocol and the typical workings of a Music Department highly desired
Previous experience supervising college-aged students highly desired
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and cloud computing
