Position Summary
The Custodian Service Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the Museum’s high standards for cleanliness. This position is responsible for overseeing the hiring, performance, and training of departmental employees ensuring that proper cleaning and service procedures are adhered to as well as leading by example and modeling the way. This position directly supervises 8-12 front line staff; a combination of full-time and part-time employees.
Lead, develop and supervise Custodian Services staff and volunteers:
Maintains healthy staffing levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results through ongoing and annual evaluation process; conducting training; implementing and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Maintaining payroll oversight for time card approvals and adjustments to time or employment status.
Work with other departments to ensure proper staffing, room set up and post event clean up.
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Report accidents, developing and implementing inspection, data, forms, and techniques; develop staffing patterns and levels and correct practices.
Completes operations by developing schedules including meetings/staff check-ins; assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; resolving operations problems; developing and maintaining training manuals; implementing new procedures.
Provides quality service by enforcing customer service standards.
Monitor and verify work performance of contracted cleaning service providers, coordinate schedule and tasks.
Perform cleaning inspections for both interiors and exteriors of the museum.

Collaborate with Operations Manager on budget responsibilities that includes monitoring payroll hours, upkeep of supplies, restocking, repair and restore costs. Communicate hiring needs and department strategies for training.
Serve as a backup to Custodian Services staff in case of availability issues, special projects, or to coach staffing proper standards. Tasks include but not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, damp mopping, restroom cleaning, polishing chrome, glass cleaning, carpet cleaning, help Security setup and strike furniture for facility programs and rental requests, maintaining clean exterior, including watering of gardens, sweeping and snow removal of sidewalks.

Qualifications or requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to effectively lead, develop and supervise a team
Ability to work independently and make sound leadership and customer service decisions
Ability to proactively communicate, demonstrate flexibility and creative problem solving
Positive attitude; Comfort in working around families and children.
Skill in attending to detail.
Safe handling of cleaning chemicals & equipment.
Ability to work with service-oriented, extraordinary demeanor.
Basic understanding and ability to communicate in English.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years experience in custodial services field
Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience of housekeeping, custodial, and/or facilities staff; preferably of a large team of full-time and part-time employees.
