Job description

The Anderson Center is the largest artist community in the upper Midwest. We run an interdisciplinary artist residency program, offer arts-based outreach activities in Red Wing and the surrounding area, support local artists through access to space and equipment, and steward and maintain a 350-acre historic estate.

The Anderson Center’s operating budget is approximately $500,000 per year; we also maintain a capital fund for restoration work on our campus and a longevity fund of long-term investments. We are growing as a team and an organization and are looking for a motivated Development Director to help us expand both our donor base and our audiences as we look forward to our 25th year. This is a full-time, salaried position.

Donor Relations:
Lead individual and small business fundraising efforts, including:
– With the Executive Director and Board, solicit contributions to the longevity fund in connection with the 25th Anniversary of the Anderson Center (2020)
– Solicit program sponsorships from individual donors and small businesses
– Implement one yearly fundraising event
– Maintain and grow membership base
– Manage member and donor database
– Identify and cultivate potential donors
– Manage all donor communications, including acknowledgement and renewal letters
– With Graphic Designer, develop materials for annual campaign

Qualifications or requirements

– Hands-on experience working with individual donors with demonstrable results
– Minimum of two years working in development for a non-profit organization
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Experience managing databases
– Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with artists, members, and major donors
– Interest in and knowledge of the arts is a plus
– Interest in and knowledge of historic estates is a plus
