Position description

Gain nonprofit development experience and make a lasting impact on the sustainability of a music school by becoming Hopewell’s Donor Relations VISTA. This position will work closely with Hopewell’s Program Director and Development Officer and will get a close up view of how a small arts nonprofit is run from a programming, fundraising, and operating perspective. Duties include research on best practices in fundraising as related to sustaining donor programs & individual donor campaigns, as well as assisting with grant writing & funder research. In addition to VISTA benefits (listed below), you will gain access to valuable trainings and workshops for professional development.

VISTA Benefits:

-Segal Education award: $6,345 (To be used towards student loans or continuing college education, awarded after 1 year term of service. To qualify for this award, a VISTA must be a naturalized US citizen.)

-Bi-weekly living allowance: $513.94

-$150 in Professional Development Funds

-Free use of practice space, instruments, and rehearsal space

-Initial Interviews will occur between May 15 – June 1, 2021

-Second round of interviews will occur between June 1 – 15, 2021

-Final selection will be between June 15 – 31, 2021

-Service term is August 2nd 2021 – August 1 2022

Qualifications or requirements

As per Americorps VISTA policies, volunteer must be a U.S. Citizen, legal permanent resident, asylee/refugee or under DACA status (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). In certain cases, non US citizens may be eligible to serve but are not eligible to receive the Education Award and must elect the cash stipend instead for their end-of service benefit.

They must be able to pass a background check, including FBI fingerprinting check. Having an incident does not necessarily prevent an individual from serving.
