Job description

St Louis Park Friends of the Arts (FOTA) is a multi-faceted, dynamic arts organization that strengthens our community by supporting, promoting and enhancing the arts. FOTA is looking for an Executive Director to lead the design and execution of programming and events that engage the residents of St. Louis Park and our vibrant community of stakeholders. Qualifications or requirements

Executive, Financial and Administrative Leadership:
– Provide overall strategic and operational oversight for FOTA, its programs, partnerships and the ongoing execution of its mission.
– Develop an annual budget and oversee monthly financial reporting that accurately reflects the overall fiscal status of the organization
– Contribute to the recruitment, maintenance and support of the Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee and seek out and build board involvement on strategic priorities
– Ensure the effectiveness of programming and organizational processes by regularly evaluating and communicating success metrics to the board, its partners and other constituents.

Strategic Program Management and Community Engagement:
– Leverage the SLP Roadmap for Advancing Arts and Culture to design, implement and maintain impactful, community based programming that strengthens the city and its many constituent groups
– Build and maintain productive relationships with FOTA’s core partners, including Artists, the City of St. Louis Park and the SLP City Council, SLP Schools, Westwood Nature Center, Discover St. Louis Park, as well as numerous arts and community organizations
– Actively engage with and lead FOTA board members, volunteers, committee participants, partners and other stakeholders in executing FOTA’s community based programming

Fundraising & Communications:
– Lead and expand revenue generating and fundraising activities such as grant applications, public art consultation, art fair and annual fundraising campaigns to support existing operations as well as the continued expansion of FOTA’s strategic priorities
– Deepen and expand donor and partner relationships through existing and new communication channels, including a monthly newsletter, web and social media presence, event programming and direct outreach
– Leverage strategic partnerships and personal relationships to identify new engagement opportunities and continue building community awareness and a positive organizational reputation

The successful candidate will have previous leadership experience within a professional or nonprofit organization, including relevant coaching, consulting and/or relationship management experience. This position is ideal for a driven self-starter who can manage responsibilities in a flexible environment.

Specific requirements include:
– A bachelor’s degree with relevant leadership experience
– A proven track record of producing quantifiable organizational growth and/or success
– Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach and/or manage staff/committee members/volunteers, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
– Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate and deepen board member relationships
– A commitment to supporting and incorporating principles of inclusion and diversity into the ongoing management and operations of the organization
– Solid fundraising, marketing, and/or public relations experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
– Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
– Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
– Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with diverse groups of people
– Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
– Basic web content management, social media, and technology skills
