New Native Theatre seeks a General Manager that provides the company with the expertise to hold together professional teams of people, meaningful projects and the theatre company priorities.
The NNT General Manager manages all human capital aspects of the company while ensuring that an exemplary culture of professional artists and the priorities of the company are represented at every point.
The GM conducts the day-to-day detailed operations across the whole of the theatre company and administers our artistic programming and projects.
The GM role is open for an experienced manager and professional who can anticipate the needs of our organization and support and advocate for the company. Because NNT is poised for growth and development, the next phase in the organization will include building structures, managing and budgeting for growth, and populating our work with quality passionate individuals. Qualifications or requirements
Support the Artistic Director.
Work alongside the NNT Artistic Director to establish policies, contracts, and manage and support in-house and visiting artists, companies, entities.
Uphold asset based lens.
Practice grassroots equity and advocacy.
Production planning to ensure alignment with NNT financial and artistic goals and mission.
Chair production meetings for in-house and visiting companies.
Administration and seamless scheduling of all productions across all venues, spaces and rehearsals.
Delivering high level communication and administrative quality on our programs and on tour where applicable.
Leveraging and managing media outlets and related policies necessary to expand NNT audience via recordings, film, live broadcasting, publishing any related materials.
Host NNT Meet and Greets with in-house, visiting artists and companies from time to time.
Attend press events, fundraising events, and all previews of NNT performances.
Production Administration and Scheduling.
Hiring and contracting with artists, tech, and other staff according to standard HR policies and processes for all productions.
Developing and executing contracts for all NNT productions and events as needed.
Ensure efficient productive collaborative working culture.
Manage the calendar and bookings.
Provide feedback and support for all collaborative contract work.
Represent NNT in our work with partner organizations and to support equity and access for NNT, our artists and people.
Run operations meetings and company meetings.
Finance and Administration.
Grant writing and reporting.
Monthly and as needed financial reports to the Artistic Director. The NNT budget and projections, forecasts and performance against metrics. All significant events as needed.
Oversee NNT payroll for permanent and contracted staff, working with the artistic manager.
Drive and reconcile NNT production budgets.
Authorize payments, production invoices, cash via policy threshold expenditures and any royalty payments.
Ensure financial and production data integrity and accuracy at all times.
Theatre and or Production Venue Operations.
Develop and execute upon the NNT apprenticeship model.
Overseeing contractors where necessary to ensure the smooth running of the whole venue and production.
Working across the NNT company to ensure best practice and NNT policies are in place and adhered to at all times.
Managing NNT website, Front of House & Box Office and merchandise where applicable.
Updating policies when relevant and ensuring these are shared with all of our people as well as uploaded to internet and public access digital platforms.
Running HR functions for the entire company.
Contracting the staff and maintaining employment records and tracking for staff.
Coordinating and creating regular evaluation for all staff.
Lead out on recruitment for available NNT staffing or voluntary opportunities.
Enforcement of NNT HR policies around healthy culture, harassment, Child Protection and Safeguarding.
Honest, open, regular and effective communication with staff about activities and seek support from appropriate staff and board should a question arise.
Work with the Artistic Director on business planning, operationalizing work plans, including developing and implementing a NNT Management System process.
Speak passionately and knowledgeably about all aspects of NNT and advocate for the mission and all objectives.
Develop and grow our funding relationships and report to key funders and supporters.
Represent New Native Theatre company in any absences to address issues, including speaking on behalf of the staff as directed.
Undertake other responsibilities as required.

Grant writing experience.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of contracts, agreements, practical knowledge of union agreements and willingness to learn more.

Experience with and knowledge of standardized best practices in Health and Safety, Trauma Informed Care, and their practical application in our theatre company and any related scope of our mission.
Proven understanding of work plans, planning and scheduling Theatre productions and events.
Proven understanding of company and project finance.
Ability to prioritize and manage a complex workflow.
Experience with advocacy roles.

Education and or experience in the aforementioned areas.
