Job description

The Ignite Rural Program Coordinator will work with DoPT staff to oversee the Ignite Rural Program; collaborate on program design, implementation, and evaluation; communicate with and support the selected artists and program partners; and complete administrative tasks related to the program. This position reports to the Executive Director.

This is a remote / work-from-home position. Some travel may be requested, if possible with COVID-19 protocols. Candidates can be located anywhere in the United States, with preference given to candidates in the Upper Midwest region, the 18-county Southwestern Minnesota region, Pezihutazizi Oyate (Upper Sioux Community), or Cansa’yapi (Lower Sioux Indian Community).

Responsibilities Include:

→ Collaborate with DoPT staff on program design and implementation, partner organization and community relationship building, and evaluating all aspects of the program
→ Communicate with DoPT staff, program design / selection committee, and selected artists
→ Coordinate photo and video documentation for the program
→ Assist with event set-up, preparation, promotion, and evaluation for artist showcase and talkback
→ Complete administrative tasks such as note-taking, emailing, scheduling, drafting press releases, coordinating photo and video documentation
→ Be a positive representative of the program locally, regionally, and nationally, as needed
→ Other duties as available and agreed upon

→ Positive, forward-looking, and curious approach
→ High level of attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
→ Ability to work well in a team and also autonomously with minimal supervision
→ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
→ Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job
→ Passionate about rural and tribal communities, art and creativity, and storytelling
→ Commitment to anti-oppression and anti-racism; in particular, cultural and inter-cultural competencies developed through lived experience will be given preference
→ Technologically savvy and comfortable navigating and learning new systems
→ A sense of humor!

Preferred Qualifications:

→ Familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom
→ Lived experience in a rural community
