A Kiln Master loads and unloads tile on time and in high volume.
A Kiln Master is responsible for following the kiln schedule, ensuring tile is loaded, unloaded and fired correctly and efficiently. They are also responsible for check in the tile, looking it over for any imperfections that may make it unpassable. Once they’ve checked in a complete order, they are responsible for delivering the tile to or coordinating with the next appropriate phase.
1. Load and unload tile from the kilns.
2. Check in tile and ensure quality standards are met.
3. Ensure notes provided by the Production Coordinator or the Kilns Lead regarding color variation are achieved on load-out.
4. Ensure production order forms are properly completed.
5. Follow safety policies.
6. Keep the Kilns area, including tools, clean.
7. Help the Lead with inventory and other general Kilns tasks.
8. Stay productive and on task.
Qualifications or requirements
Duties will also include helping out in others areas as needed and you must be willing to lend a hand in the other areas and with general duties in our manufacturing area. These duties may include: tilemaking, glazing, gluing tiles onto mesh into patterns, shipping, cleaning, organizing and other tasks which support the whole process of creating beautiful handmade ceramic tile.
No previous experience required, we will train you.
You must be organized, literate, friendly and able to do basic math.
Detail-oriented and able to follow directions is a must!

This position involves A LOT of heavy lifting, bending, warm working environment at times and the applicant must be physically able to handle this and be on their feet all day. You must be able to lift 50 pounds.
