Job description

The Minneapolis College of Art and Design has an immediate opening for a part-time, benefits-eligible Media Circulation Specialist in our Media Technology Department, working 1:00pm – 7:00PM, Monday – Thursday. Provide primary circulation services of Media Center equipment at the circulation window; provide communications between the college community and the Media Center, assist department Director and Media Circulation Coordinator with scheduling and training student staff and ensuring access availability. Assist students and faculty with exhibition and event technology setup and troubleshooting needs.


Provide primary circulation services of equipment to students, faculty, and staff at the Media Center circulation window.
Assist department Director and Media Circulation Coordinator with the digital circulation and reservation systems including updating content for accuracy, data entry of new or revised items, maintaining communications between the department and its patrons via email, phone, in-person; pursue overdue/missing equipment.
Through class and individual demos, instruct patrons on Media Center policies and reservation systems.
Assist patrons with technical instruction on usage of equipment when able.
Ensure operability of circulation equipment by direct inspection and/or verification. Troubleshoot and correct technical problems when possible, delegate to Technology Specialists as appropriate, ad assist with maintaining daily accurate equipment status in reservation system.
Create equipment and kit documentation including labels, shelf tags, etc.
Assist department staff with large checkouts for in-class demonstrations, commencement exhibitions, junior reviews, merit award exhibitions, and major gallery installations.
Assist with the annual equipment inventory.
Assist in coordinating usage of the black and gray studios and equipment needs.
Work with department Director and Media Circulation Coordinator to help maintain Media Center policies and updates on the Intranet, Knowledge Base or other online/print resources.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications or requirements

Education: BFA in visual arts, preferred
Experience: At least 2 years customer service experience required; experience with management of both physical and database inventories desired; familiarity and knowledge of audio, video, presentation, and photography equipment preferred; Apple and macOS computer experience preferred.
Skills: Versatile person who enjoys working with people in a service capacity in a high-volume fast-paced environment; adapts well to daily evolving organizations systems.
