James Brenner Sculpture Seeks Metal Fabricator

The James Brenner Sculpture studio seeks a Metal Fabricator to accomplish the primary goal of creating and welding metal parts and assemblies in a steel sculpture studio.

Metal Fabricator Duties and Responsibilities; The Metal Fabricator must read and understand engineering blueprints and plans to know exactly what is required of any project. They must follow detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures in all the work they do.

Cut and Fabricate Metal Objects; Metal Fabricators use a variety of tools to work with metal. They operate cutting saws to cut various metals, and weld and grind fabricated structures to meet structural requirements.

Ensure Quality and Document Work; For all work that they do, Metal Fabricators must perform detailed quality checks to ensure that it meets all standards and requirements. They must document work and results, while keeping records of labor and materials used.

Qualifications or requirements

Required Skills:
Detail-oriented and focused. A successful Metal Fabricator is capable of following complex instructions. They work well both independently and as part of a team. They are reliable and conscientious workers.

In addition to these general skills and personality traits, James Brenner Sculpture seeks Metal Fabricator candidates with the following core skills and advanced skills.

Core skills:
Ability to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature.
Effective English reading and writing communication skills.
Ability to operate hand power tools; angle-grinders, sanders, saws, drills, die-grinders, etc.
Ability to operate stationary tools; horizontal band saw, vertical band saw, pneumatic punch, drill press, bench grinder, belt-sander, table saw, air compressor, pneumatic tools, etc.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Ability to lift in excess of fifty pounds.

Advanced skills:
Welding experience or AWS certification; Primarily MIG welding and some TIG welding.
Adobe Creative Suite, i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop.
Basic electrical, low voltage wiring.
