Job description

The Ordway: The Ordway, recognized as one of the U.S.’s leading not-for-profit performing arts centers, is home to a wide variety of performances throughout the year that encompass the finest in musical theater, world music, dance, and vocal artists. Performances take place in the 1,900-seat Music Theater and a 1,100-seat Concert Hall. Position Purpose: The Concert Hall Production Manager is responsible for providing event planning, cost estimating, and execution oversight, assistance and expertise to clients and Arts Partners. Assist in scheduling House Crew and dispatch labor to execute events. To supervise and document crew hours and payroll during production calls. To create or provide CAD drawings or layouts and support materials. To ensure the safe operation of the backstage area. Support the Production department and the operations of the Ordway.

Key Performance Areas:
• Supervise house crew and IATSE Stagehands on a show by show or call basis that meet the Ordway’s production or event goals.
• Plan and execute events as agreed to by the Ordway Production Department between Ordway events, Arts Partners, and external Rental Clients to ensure the event executed as scheduled and in budget.
• Assist in the research of and manage various vendors for price and quality to result in the best sources of products and services within the production calendar requirements of Ordway, Arts Partners, rental, and special events
• Coordinate safety measures for the backstage area to result in the on-going safety of staff and guests within established safety parameters
• Support the Operations of the Production Department

Qualifications or requirements

Other Qualifications:
• Understanding of technical theatre equipment, processes, and protocols. Basic understanding of how each technical department functions, the equipment used, and how they fit into the production process.
• Knowledge of workplace safety standards including General Duty Standards, Hazardous Communications Standards, Occupational Noise Exposure, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tag Out, and Blood Borne Pathogens.
• Knowledge of union contracts, especially I.A.T.S.E. and A.E.A. contracts.
• High school diploma or GED required, B.A. or BFA or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of three years of experience in a professional IATSE union house.
• Working knowledge and experience in technical theatre for the performing arts, including theatrical, dance, musicals, industrials, and concert production.
