Job description

The Studio Technician will successfully blend attention to detail, flexibility, and people skills while working in a small organization with a wide range of daily activities. They will be a self-starter, enjoy organizing, and working with others.

Work hours will be scheduled between 9 – 5 Mon- Fri (20 hrs/wk); plus, occasional weekend and evening hours due to special events.

Maintain a clean, well-stocked and functional work environment

Maintain print studio and supplies in good working order

Maintain equipment by regular inspection, preventative maintenance and repair

Manage working members and oversee the completion of their assigned tasks

Help oversee the safe use of the facilities, update MSDS sheets as needed


Packing and shipping of sold artwork

Procure shipping materials


Monitor and maintain studio expendables inventory


Exhibition installation and take down including: unpacking and cataloging arriving work; wall preparation; hanging/installing work; lighting; labeling; reception help; de-installation of work; return of work, packing sold work and shipping; gallery repairs\


Assist with Saturday afternoon gallery hours

Assist with seasonal mailings

Compile internship and residency/fellowship applications

Coordinate repairs and facilities improvements with internal staff and external vendors

Part-time, 2 year term, salaried position

Qualifications or requirements


Bachelor of Fine Arts (or higher) degree in Printmaking

Working knowledge of intaglio, lithography, screen, and relief printing

Mature outlook, positive attitude, and self-confidence working with others

Highly organized and detail-oriented

Ability to prioritize and multi-task a wide variety of projects

Able to work with many deadlines, different personalities, and priorities

Flexible, creative, and efficient problem-solver


Experience maintaining/managing a print studio

Digital skills are appreciated, but preference is given to applicants

with strong traditional printmaking skills and knowledge.

Basic working knowledge and operation of hand-held tools
