The Opportunity
The St. Paul Art Collective (SPAC) is building for the future.
We are ultimately seeking an experienced board member that could move into the position of Board President. We are also looking a board member to chair our fundraising committee.
SPAC is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment. Background
Established in 1977, the Saint Paul Art Collective empowers St. Paul artists through expanding connections and inspirational spaces in which artists can create and grow.
The Saint Paul Art Crawl, a primary program of The Saint Paul Art Collective, attracts thousands of visitors to view and purchase art, meet artists, and tour studio buildings. Art patrons become a part of the cultural life of the city. In Spring as well as Fall, St. Paul comes alive with art as each Art Crawl features hundreds of artists in multiple locations.

The St. Paul Art Collective (SPAC) promotes mutually beneficial and meaningful interaction between the arts community and the general public. Our organization aims to:
• Develop audiences and networks for St. Paul artists.
• Provide access to the arts for everyone in St. Paul.
• Create connections between artists and the community throughout St. Paul.

St. Paul has incredible artists, assets, and creative capacity that will enable it to significantly enrich the lives of its residents and vitality of the community. We believe that a vibrant arts community is critical to the social health, economic prosperity, and resilience of St. Paul. The St. Paul Art Collective (SPAC) will nurture this talented community of culture bearers and artists, creative energy, and public engagement to advance St. Paul as a place where artists thrive and residents enjoy an elevated quality of life.

Fundraising
SPAC Board Members will consider SPAC a philanthropic priority and make gifts that reflect that priority. So that SPAC can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals, we expect to have 100 percent of Board Members make contributions that are commensurate with their capacity.
Board members will actively participate in SPAC’s fundraising efforts.
Board Responsibilities
Attending the monthly Board meetings that are held virtually on the third Monday of each month
Serving on at least one committee.
Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by SPAC for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using these metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to Board and Committee meetings
Approving SPAC’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of SPAC
Partnering with the President and other Board Members to ensure the Board resolutions are carried out
Ensuring SPAC’s commitment to a diverse Board and staff that reflects the communities SPAC serves
Engage with members and other stakeholders and act as an ambassador to enhance SPAC’s presence, awareness and commitment to the community.
Attendance Policy
Any Board Member missing half or more of the Board’s meetings in a calendar year may be removed from the Board.
Any Board Member with three unexcused absences from the Board’s meetings in a calendar year may be removed from the Board.
Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about SPAC’s mission. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
Professional experience with executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
A commitment to and understanding of the arts community in the Twin Cities
Diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of the diverse residents of St. Paul
