We are seeking 2 individuals interested in joining the board of a new arts-based nonprofit organization. Folk Will Save Us amplifies and builds resources for artistic work rooted in cultural traditions in Minnesota, and is centered around a collective of artists using tradition-based art to build social change. We have functioned for 5 years under a fiscal sponsor, and filed our Form 1023 nonprofit application with the IRS in June 2024.
Specifically, we are seeking individuals with experience in two professional fields: Law (Attorney, other legal professional) and Financial services (CPA, financial advisor, etc). We are especially interested in individuals who are Indigenous or a Person of Color to join our board, to ensure that our leadership remains representative of the artists and communities we serve. (Our board is currently 60% BIPOC and artist cohort is 83% BIPOC).
This year we have received funding from the NEA, Minnesota Humanities Center, Minnesota State Arts Board, and MRAC to build programming serving traditional artists statewide. We would be thrilled to connect with individuals interested in serving on Folk Will Save Us’ board, either for a limited timeframe to assist with building governance structure and organization documents, or for a standard 2-year term. Happy to discuss the possibilities with multiple interested individuals.
