The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals for a project funded by the Department of Education and enter into contract, through competitive negotiations, for the development and production of a school readiness educational video series for a kindergarten-2nd grade audience.
In response to the challenges voiced by the nation’s educators and caregivers – of young children struggling with foundational skills in school – TPT aims to focus on creating and producing content that strengthens school readiness skills as well as each child’s valuable role in their community. We seek proposals to create linear episodes that help develop foundational skills required for youth, ages 5-8 years old, to succeed in school and beyond.
Our key focus areas include school readiness (including literacy, mathematics and aligned topics) and civics programming that will prepare our nation’s children for success in school and prepares them with the knowledge, skills and values needed to actively participate in our democracy.
20x 11 minute episodes will be produced that centers children (i.e. live-action, animation, or a combination) in early elementary grades (kindergarten-3rd grade) solving real-world problems together. Civics for this audience may include foundational concepts such as developing an understanding of democratic skills and attitudes (e.g. voting), analyzing different points of view that may result in compromise/conflict, noticing ways people take action to improve their communities, understanding contributions of community and local government leaders, or identifying concerns in the community and ways to resolve these concerns. We encourage innovative live-action concepts (e.g. reality tv, game show) that are developmentally appropriate and will engage this young audience.
We are seeking proposals covering one of two possible areas of focus:
Topic 1: School readiness (transition from Prek to K or K to first grade) ▪ Series Goal: Focusing on foundational skills (e.g. literacy, mathematics) necessary to succeed in the transition into Kindergarten and/or transition into first grade. Curricular content may be aligned to Common Core standards.
Topic 2: Civic engagement ▪ Series Goal: Production of 20 x 11 min solution-oriented linear show based around civics issues featuring real-world challenges that are relevant to children.
We are requesting proposals related to the production of 20 x 11 minute episodes to include:
1. Statement of the creative vision
2. Detail of the episode format
3. Proposed project budget and schedule for completion
4. Optional: recommended animation studio, if applicable
Guidelines for New Creative
