POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary objective of this position is to deliver arts content, create experiences and cultivate participation in programs and activities during a four-month Chicago Avenue Project residency at Bancroft Elementary School, as well as inside the Pillsbury House + Theatre neighborhood center. This position reports to the Chicago Avenue Project Director and is responsible for working collaboratively with PH+T RTAs, program and community partner staff to design, implement and evaluate arts-based programming for participants of all ages and abilities. This position is designed for professional practicing artists to continue their artistic work while bringing their artistry to PH+T/PUC participants. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching and facilitating lesson plans. They will know how to build and maintain positive and productive relationships among diverse individuals and groups.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Strategy and Thought Leadership
• Programming expert in arts learning
• Create arts-based content & curriculum for diverse groups of learners
• Make recommendations for program improvements
• Stay current with and connected to available community resources
• Illuminate and create pathways for artistic desires and ideas from participants and community members to be integrated into programs

Operations and Outcomes
• Develop progressive sessions of arts classes including specific lesson plans for diverse groups of arts learners
• Teach and co-teach classes that support learners in exercising their creativity
• Share experience and practice with RTA and staff colleagues to support PH+T and PUC
• Track and report assigned metrics
• Provide, solicit and receive constructive feedback

People and Community Development
• Provide excellent participant experiences
• Initiate, build and maintain strong internal & external relationships
• Support PH+T staff, partners and volunteers as required
• Foster creative opportunities that facilitate access, attachment, and agency
• Cultivate partnerships with community organizations to engage new groups of arts learners

Financial Management
• Use resources and supplies responsibly
• Record time accurately
• Track program spending as requested or required

Required Skills/Experience
• Knowledge of and skill in at least one arts discipline
• Knowledge of societal issues affecting children, youth and adults in the community
• Ability to work responsively with diverse populations
• Knowledge of systemic inequities and their impact on individuals
• Demonstrated ability to teach complex concepts and skills
• Knowledge of program development and evaluation
• Knowledge of the philosophy, value and role of culture and arts in under resourced communities and communities of color
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
• Ability to problem solve under stressful situations
• Able to build positive, nonjudgmental relationships
• Understanding of appropriate personal boundaries and professional ethics
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends
• Self-motivating with excellent time management and accountability skills
• Minimum of four years of professional arts experience
• Minimum of four years of professional teaching experience
