Minnesota Manga’s “Make Your Manga!” contest encourages local artists to create manga and rewards extraordinary talent with high quality art supplies to help remove economic limitations.

Guidelines
Submissions due by November 1st, 2026!
Details:
- Submissions will be judged by a committee based on technical and artistic qualities; the quality of materials used will not be considered
- Winner will be selected by the committee
- Winners will be contacted by a staff member of Minnesota Manga to arrange obtaining prizes
- The full submission or parts of it may be used on Minnesota Manga’s social media and in magazines
- Please email minnesotamanga@gmail.com with any questions, comments, or concerns!
Rules:
All submission must:
- Be by a person who is able to collect the prizes from Wet Paint (1684 Grand Ave, St Paul, MN 55105)
- Be drawn in a manga or manga-like style (considered when judging, but not enforced when accepting submitting)
- Be read from left to right (if you draw a manga right to left, you can flip the pages though the art will be flipped too)
- Be printable in greyscale (using screen tones is recommended, but all methods are accepted)
- Not contain any explicit content or hate speech of any kind (as a guideline, if the manga was in a store there must be no possibility of it needing to be shrink wrapped)
- Not use images created by AI
- Be created entirely by the person submitting to the contest
- Not be “fan art” or based on copyrighted materials
- Be the only submission by a person
- Only include files formatted as PDFs, Word documents, PNGs, or JPEGS
Submission options:
All submissions must include a name and email address, and one of the following options:
- Option 1: any number of manga pages that can be read in order to tell a story.
- Option 2: 3-5 drawing(s) in a manga-like style, and a script for a manga story OR story pitch that is one-page or less in length.
