Call for Proposals: Public Mural for Compassion in South Minneapolis

Compassionate Action for Animals

We are seeking an artist to design and paint a large-scale public mural on a retail business (Vegan East) in the Morris Park neighborhood of South Minneapolis. This mural will be located along E 55th St. and is intended to spark reflection, connection, and compassion for animals.

About the Project

This project is a collaboration between volunteers at the Minneapolis non-profit Compassionate Action for Animals, and the beloved local bakery Vegan East. Our goal is to establish a large-scale mural that inspires compassion for all species, including companion animals, wildlife, and farm animals. The final design will encouraging viewers from all backgrounds to reflect on the relationship between humans and other animals. While we will consider designs without words, we are envisioning a design that combines compelling imagery with thoughtful text, such as:

Through inclusive outreach, education, and community-building, we envision a world where all animals—human and nonhuman—can thrive. Our hope is for this mural to be a landmark of compassion and a starting point for dialogue around animal protection in our community.
