The art gallery located within St. Paul’s Monastery offers an annual gallery exhibit exploring sacred art. Over the centuries, Benedictines have encouraged women and men who use color, form, sound, and word to express the beauty one experiences in the encounter with God’s own creativity. Their work contributes to keeping us mindful of God’s abiding presence. The Seeing God juried exhibit features contemporary artists who work in that spirit.
We seek works of art that:
(1) are rooted in themes drawn from religious traditions, Scripture, nature, the human journey, and/or an interpretation of the mystery of life.
(2) show how art reveals a deeper sense of wonder.
(3) are appropriate for the environment that greets the Sisters and guests daily.
AWARDS: Awards totaling $375 will be distributed.
JURORS: The jury will consist of two to three individuals recognized for their experience in sacred art. From the submissions, the Jurors will select those that will be accepted into the show. Work will then be judged by how well it artistically expresses the artist’s statement about their entry and demonstrates skill in the artist’s chosen medium.
ELIGIBILITY: Eligible pieces include original works executed in the last three years and not exhibited with this show previously. Works of students are eligible only if created without the help of an instructor.
NUMBER OF WORKS: Each artist may submit one work. Suites and groups of works are not eligible.
SIZE: Works exceeding five feet in any direction (including frame) are not eligible.
ENTRY FEE: $25 due with application by Jan. 7, 2026, non-refundable. For more details, follow the link:
