Café Marguerite is hosting a juried art show curated around the theme of Warmth.
Located in the heart of the arts district of Northeast Minneapolis, the bakery and cafe invites visual artists’ responses to the question, “What does warmth mean to you?” At the intersection between literal heat generated from our bakery ovens and café espresso machine steam wands and the friction emanating from political discourse and issues of justice is the center point for our show’s curation. Playful. Charged. Practical. Electric. What is aflame within you? Where is heat rising in your creative world this winter season? We welcome your artistic responses!
Café Marguerite is thrilled to collaborate with artist–writer–activist C. Fausto Cabrera as guest juror for this show. Fresh off his shows at the Weisman Art Museum and Cargill Gallery, Cabrera brings his unique gifts and perspective to this show’s curation. Interdisciplinary artist, poet, and storyteller, Cabrera’s twenty-one years of confinement forged a practice that now transcends genre, each medium a declaration of what’s possible beyond the cage.
This show opens January 9 and will hang for 10 weeks. The Cafe will host an opening night party Friday, January 9, from 5:30–8 PM, with guest DJ Megan O and Cafe Marguerite poet-in-residence, Sara Dovre Wudali. Wine, beer, cocktails and food will be available for sale. All artists will receive a drink ticket. There will be an artist talk at 6pm.

Eligibility is open 2-D artists 18 and older.
Submission fee is: $10 for three pieces of art.
Deadline: December 19, 2025 at 11:59 PM CT
Notification date: by December 23, 2025.
Exhibition dates: January 9–March 23, 2026. All artists will be notified by December 23, 2026.
Artwork must be ready to hang, framed and with wire on back and dropped off at 300 13th Avenue Northeast, Minneapolis, MN 55413 on or before January 5, 2025 by 3 PM.
Work must be picked up by: March 28, 2026.
This is a group show and only 1 piece per artist will be chosen.
Artists will be contacted directly for sales and will keep 100% of the purchase price of their work. If a piece is purchased before the end of the show, we ask that the artist replace it with a similar work or inform patron of pickup on last day of show.
