Building an Artist Website with Squarespace – Fergus Falls

This three-hour session combines a one-hour instructional workshop with a two-hour guided work session to help artists build or refine a professional website using Squarespace. The workshop portion will cover the essentials of planning and structuring an artist website, including choosing a template, organizing pages, presenting artwork or projects, writing clear and accessible content, and understanding the basics of domains, navigation, and SEO.

The guided work session that follows is a supported study hall where participants can apply what they’ve learned to their own sites in real time. Attendees will have time to set up pages, upload content, troubleshoot issues, and get individualized help and feedback.

No technical background required, but participants should bring a laptop and have a Squarespace account set up beforehand. While this workshop is free, please note that Squarespace plans generally range from $16–$23 per month, billed annually. A paid plan is not required during the workshop, but is needed to publish a site publicly afterwards. If you’re not sure if Squarespace is right for you long-term, you can sign up for a free trial period, which is sufficient for participating in the session.

Space is limited to 12 participants to allow for discussion and individual questions. Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided.
