Featured Artist: Zoe Mae (she/her)
Growing up homeschooled in Minnesota, Zoe had endless time to create. She fell in love with the arts through her studies in portraiture and writing influences such as Edward Hirsch. At the College of Saint Benedict, Zoe received her bachelor’s degree in Studio Art with a minor in English Writing, and was invited into: Entrepreneurship Scholars; a semester in Bei Bei, China at Southwest University; and the Manitou Creative Writing Fellowship. Since then, she has established her business Zoe Mae Art LLC selling her original works nationally. Her art and poetry have received numerous awards, publications, and exhibition opportunities. @zoemae.art, www.zoemae.art
Zoe has found immense joy in painting with gouache on wood slabs that have live bark edges. She uses a magical realist style, which enhances the storytelling of each artwork. Inspiration for her paintings are her family camping trips to the Boundary Waters, where she is able to reconnect with her inner child, moss, trees, tiny mushrooms, and the lakes.
