2025 Transgender Day of Remembrance – Call for Performance Artists

Hennepin County Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Employee Resource Group

The Hennepin County Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Employee Resource Group (TGNC ERG) are seeking poets and spoken word artists for the 2025 Transgender Day of Remembrance.  Recitation of poetry or prose would occur on Thursday, November 20 from 4 – 6 PM on site at Minneapolis Central Library in downtown Minneapolis.

Performances may include, but are not limited to:

The TGNC ERG is expecting to pay performers and will negotiate based on performances selected but all performances will be paid no less than $150.00 for a half hour duration.

While all are welcome to apply, priority will be given to those of LGBTQIA+ identities, BIPOC and residents of, or those who have a connection to Hennepin County.

Include in the email:

  1. Name of artist(s) as you wish to be listed professionally
  2. Email address
  3. Phone number
  4. Title and brief description of the written piece
  5. Expected duration for the written piece
  6. Optional resume

Please also state if you identify as LGBTQIA+, are a resident or have a connection to Hennepin County, and/or are BIPOC.

Performance Date November 20, 2025; 4PM – 6PM (multiple performers may be selected to fill allotted time)

 

Eligibility

All are eligible to apply, priority in selection will be given to those stating in their email application that they are members of the LGBTQIA+ communities, BIPOC and/or are a resident or have a connection to Hennepin County

COPYRIGHT & USAGE RIGHTS

Artists retain all copyrights to their own images. Artists whose work is accepted for the 2025 Transgender Day of Remembrance performance give the TGERG the nonexclusive right to use, print, and reproduce submitted digital and imagery for the purpose of promoting the performance(s) and event, via internal Hennepin County communications, public social media, and online exhibition archives.
