Call for Artists: Treat People Like People Campaign & Disability Forward Initiative

Minnesota Council on Disability

Artists who identify as living with a disability are invited to take part in a meaningful new creative effort. We are refreshing the Minnesota Council on Disability Poster line – titled “Disability Forward”. We are also designing original poster art for the Treat People Like People Campaign.

This project aims to amplify disability identity, uplift lived experiences, and foster connection through powerful visual storytelling. In a time marked by hardship and pain, we hope to create space for visibility, celebration, and solidarity through art.

We are seeking Fine Artists across disciplines to contribute work that reflects the strength, complexity, and humanity of the disability community.

How to Participate
Artists interested in participating are encouraged to reach out to creative project lead Molly Evans at restorative.reiki.health.wellness@gmail.com. Please include two examples of your previous artwork in your email.

Information Session
An informational meeting will be held on April 10, 2026, with sessions offered at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. During this time, we will share project details, expectations, compensation information, and discuss themes, mediums, and artistic approaches.

Project Timeline
This is a fast-paced project with a firm deadline. Final artwork will be due by May 22, 2026.

We hope to bring together a diverse group of artists to create compelling, thoughtful work that honors disability identity and contributes to a broader cultural conversation grounded in respect, equity, and care.

Join us in shaping a visual narrative that expresses “Treat People Like People” and “Disability Forward”. Here is the link to the Call For Artists, which is posted on the MCD Website:
