- Works should be between 3 and 6 minutes
- Works should either be a cappella, or for choir with piano. If you would like to add additional instruments, you would need to provide additional performers.
- Multimedia works are acceptable, but composers must provide any technical requirements with submission.
- Composers must provide the text they are planning on setting with the submission. If the text is not yet written, a detailed description of the text must be provided. Texts should be centered on themes of anti-fascism, anti-authoritarianism, anti-colonialism, and/or anti-imperialism.
Minneapolis Choir Collective is calling for scores for our upcoming fall 2026 concert. We are a 60+ voice ensemble made of community members and professional musicians who perform works composed by musicians from historically underrepresented backgrounds. We usually specifically intend to premiere works by artists who are earlier in their composing careers, but for this project we are accepting applications from all who are interested. We typically perform works that are an appropriate difficulty level of an auditioned collegiate ensemble.
We are putting on a concert of many premiers centered around the theme of anti-fascism and anti-authoritarianism. This concert will be a benefit concert for a local non-profit organization.
What to submit:
- A cover letter and/or CV and/or resume that provides information about your compositional history and artistic background
- A sample score representative of your composing style
- A copy of the text you plan on setting, or a detailed description of the text you plan to set
- A description of the technical requirements for the piece, if applicable.
The due date for applications is April 17th, and completed scores must be submitted by August 1st.
