Are you an emerging filmmaker, a film lover, or just enjoy movies?
Square Lake Film & Music has an exciting opportunity you may be interested in, especially for any emerging MN filmmakers! We are running a 5-night film showcase of independent Minnesota-made short films at the 2026 MN State Fair. Although the event has not been officially announced by the fair (so we’re trying to keep it hush-hush), we would like to invite you and any filmmakers you may know to submit your short films (15 seconds to 15 minutes) for consideration to our program. It is our pleasure to announce that this will be the very first film showcase at the fair—ever!
We are accepting all genres (animation included) from all across the state. It is free to submit, and if selected, it will be shown at the Minnesota Great Get-Together: the State Fair—the biggest MN event of the year! We’ll showcase participating artists at the screenings with post-film Q/As and numerous promotional opportunities.
“MN Films at the Fair” will be presented outdoors during the weekend evenings at the PET Pavilion from August 28th-29th and September 4th-6th. We expect a crowd and numerous on-site promotional opportunities for participating filmmakers.

Screening decisions will be announced in early August.
