Paid opportunity (The project budget is $425,000, but a large portion of the money will go to the design, fabrication and installation of the artwork.)
We invite artists and artist teams to apply to design and create an artwork to honor Owámniyomni. Owámniyomni is deeply significant to Indigenous peoples, particularly the Dakhóta. It is a place of rich cultural heritage. The artwork will be at Water Works Park, part of Mill Ruins Park. The area includes the sacred sites of Wíta Naǧí (Spirit Island). It is within the Dakhóta traditional homelands.
The selected artist/artist team and the Dakhóta community will collaborate on the design. Native American/American Indian/First Nations people are invited and encouraged to apply.
