Project Description
Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) introduces a unique artist-designed tote bag each year at the State Fair to encourage folks to donate and become MPR members. We are seeking a local artist to create a design for our 2025 tote bag, which will debut in August 2025.
Goals
• To provide a meaningful mission-driven enhancement to donor thank-you gifts.
• To live out our community-centric mission to inform, include, and inspire Minnesotans.
• To utilize our unique organizational strengths and capabilities to amplify local artists and enhance representation of various Minnesota communities.
Compensation
MPR will pay the chosen artist $1,500 to license a new work of art which will be screen printed on tote bags.
Eligibility
Open to artists who currently reside in Minnesota. We strongly encourage submissions from artists of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and perspectives. If you need any help completing your application or have questions, please contact Kelly Knapp at kknapp@mpr.org.

• Concept drafts due: June 25, 2025
• Second draft of final artwork: July 9, 2025
• Final artwork due: July 23, 2025
• Item production begins: July 31, 2025
Rules
Artists may only submit their own work, and work to which they own or control all applicable rights. The artist is selected at the sole discretion of the MPR staff. No rights are granted by the artist to MPR or by MPR to the artist as a result of participation in this call for artists; any rights to use artist’s work shall be set forth in a subsequent license agreement.
