Board Member Position Description
The Celtic Junction Arts Center (CJAC) in St. Paul, Minnesota is looking for people to join our board. Members of the Board of Directors provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance.

CJAC was founded in 2016, with a mission to celebrate, promote, and preserve cultural arts and community. The four arms of the organization are:
Concerts/Events: CJAC presents local, national, and international traditional music concerts and original theater with Celtic themes
Library: CJAC’s Eoin McKiernan Library is an Irish-heritage and -arts library established with a book bequest from one of Minnesota’s greatest champions of Irish art and culture
Education: CJAC offers year-round classes in Irish language and literature, creative writing, drawing, and more
Outreach: CJAC brings performances of Irish dance, music, and language to the wider community
In 2018, CJAC won Irish Central’s Creativity and Arts Award for the Best Irish American Center.
The CJAC Board of Directors meet monthly (currently via Zoom) for one to two hours. In addition, all Board Members are expected to serve on at least one subcommittee of their choice. Subcommittees typically meet monthly for one to two additional hours. Board Members are also expected to regularly attend CJAC events and to participate in fundraising activities. Board Members serve three-year, renewable terms.
Service on CJAC’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support costs in relation to Board Member’s duties.

Grant Writing
Development/Fundraising
Legal Experience

Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about CJAC’s mission, has demonstrated experience working collaboratively to accomplish goals, an understanding of the nonprofit sector, and an affinity for Celtic culture. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Professional or volunteer experience in business, government, philanthropy, the arts, or the nonprofit sector
A commitment to and understanding of CJAC’s patrons and community, preferably based on experience
Diplomatic skills, and talent for cultivating relationships, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
Personal qualities of integrity and credibility, as well as a commitment to social justice and artistic excellence
