Minnesota Lawyers for the Arts (MnLA)

Artists face a unique array of legal questions and challenges. Minnesota Lawyers for the Arts is here to help, by providing educational resources and connecting artists with attorneys who specialize in arts and entertainment law. Take a look at our resources below and in the sidebar on the left.

National Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Network
MnLA is the Minnesota chapter of the National Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA) Network. In an effort to build collaboration, we will occasionally post articles and updates written by other VLA-ers. If you are an artist living outside of Minnesota, please check out New York’s handy dandy National Directory.

You can arrange a referral here.

Our popular pop-up legal clinics give artists and arts organizations the opportunity to sit down with an arts and entertainment attorney for a one-hour, in-person consultation. Clients are able to bring in contracts or samples to get personalized advice from an experienced professional. Check out Workshops to find out when the next Legal Clinic for Creatives is being held.
